Learn How Teeth Can Be Straightened Invisibly From an Invisalign® Dentist

InvisalignAs an Invisalign® dentist, we can straighten one's teeth without anyone knowing. Invisalign® is a fantastic solution for working professionals that need to maintain a certain image that may be damaged by wearing metal braces. Whether you are a corporate lawyer or a college student, some people simply don't want the attention. Fortunately, Invisalign® provides a way to straighten teeth without anyone noticing or commenting.

Here is how the process works.

Aligners

In this procedure, we move teeth into position by having the patient wear clear aligners. During the initial appointment, we will make an impression of the patient's teeth and create a series of aligners in the dental lab. These aligners look like clear retainers that surround the teeth. A patient wears each aligner for around two weeks before switching to the next one in the series. An aligner will typically target a few teeth to move at one time. After all of the aligners have been worn teeth will be perfectly straight.

Life with Invisalign

As an Invisalign® dentist, we share how easy it is to wear aligners with patients. With traditional metal braces, the brackets and wires that move teeth into position remain permanently on teeth until the treatment is over. Traditional braces can create challenges with both eating and care for one's teeth. Wearing aligners is much easier since patients only need to wear aligners for 22 hours a day. That leaves the remaining two hours to eat meals and brush teeth. This is incredibly convenient because patients do not need to learn how to eat differently, and it does not take any additional time to brush and floss. This one aspect makes all of the difference and our patients love how convenient it is.

Restrictions.

There are a few restrictions with Invisalign® that people need to know about. When wearing the aligners, people need to remove them to eat food from meals to snacks and beverages besides water. Patients can remove the aligners for a short bit to have a snack, but need to clean their teeth before inserting the aligners back into their mouth. We recommend drinking water when wearing aligners so that they will not sustain damage or become dirty.

Caring for aligners

You should rinse your aligner out when you brush your teeth. You can also brush it with a soft toothbrush but be careful not to scratch it and avoid toothpaste because this can make your aligner stand out and take way from the invisible quality that makes them so great. When you remove them to eat, make sure that you put them into a case instead of a napkin since that is one way to lose them.

As an Invisalign® dentist, we help patients to straighten their teeth every day. We understand that a beautiful smile can restore confidence and make life a little bit better.  This is only one of the ways that we make beautiful smiles possible.  Our goal is for our patients to stay in optimal health and to feel great.
